A 4-day Tanzania wilderness safari provides an efficient and well-balanced introduction to the country’s natural highlights.
Meet your safari guide upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll be greeted and transferred to Arusha, a comfortable 1-hour drive away. Upon reaching the lodge, relax and unwind, preparing for the exciting safari departure the following day.

In the morning, your private guide and vehicle will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and drive you to Tarangire National Park. You’ll arrive with plenty of time to enjoy an afternoon game drive. The Tarangire River, flowing through the park, attracts abundant wildlife during the dry season from June to October, including large numbers of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and antelope. You’ll often spot elephants crossing the savannah or gathering beneath the park’s iconic baobab trees, known for their “upside-down” look. Tarangire is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, home to over 550 species, including the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird in Africa.

Depart in the morning around 7 a.m. after breakfast with packed lunches, and journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop at a Maasai village along the way for an optional cultural interaction experience (available at an additional cost of $100 per vehicle). Afterward, descend into the crater floor for a memorable game-viewing adventure, with opportunities to spot the renowned Big Five, including the elusive black rhino, along with a variety of other species. After lunch, continue with more game viewing in the afternoon until evening. Finally, ascend the crater and drive out of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, heading toward Karatu for the night.

After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, exploring its diverse wildlife and scenic beauty until the afternoon. Following lunch, return to Arusha, where you’ll be dropped off at your lodge or transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
Lake Manyara is an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s vibrant birdlife, with over 400 species recorded; even first-time visitors can often spot up to 100 species in a single day. Beyond the floodplains, the acacia woodlands offer a chance to see the famous tree-climbing lions and the park’s majestic, tusked elephants.
