Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Begin your adventure with a drive to Momella Gate for registration and a briefing. Start trekking through lush rainforest, accompanied by an armed ranger due to nearby wildlife. The trail winds through scenic grasslands, offering opportunities to spot giraffes, buffaloes, and other animals. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514 meters) for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, continue your ascent, moving through lush forests into the moorland zone. The trail steepens as you near Saddle Hut at 3,570 meters. Upon arrival, you can rest or take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru at 3,820 meters, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Momella Gate

Begin your summit attempt with an early midnight start, trekking through the darkness to reach Rhino Point (3,800 meters) and Cobra Point (4,350 meters) before arriving at Socialist Peak (4,566 meters) at sunrise. Take in stunning panoramic views of Kilimanjaro and the vast surrounding landscape. After celebrating at the summit, descend back to Saddle Hut for a brief rest, then continue your descent to Momella Gate. From there, you’ll be transferred back to Arusha for a well-earned rest and a celebration of your climb.
